Here at My Cute Bookshelf, we’re very open about being book-obsessed. It runs in the family – starting from my husband and myself and reaching down to the little ones who have grown up with stories and books from day 1. It’s more than just a hobby to us, it’s a lifestyle and an interest that makes up a significant facet of our personality.

A great gift idea for a book worm would be to give them a leather bookmark!

Lately, I’ve been scanning through Pinterest & checking out a variety of fun book gifts (people are so creative!). It had me thinking how much we would have loved & appreciated receiving these types of gifts as newlyweds. Unfortunately, we didn’t receive any book-related gifts at our wedding, but I hope that this list can inspire others to buy the perfect gift for that special couple.

With that in mind, here are a few wedding gifts for the bookworm bride & groom, all of which we would have loved to receive! (And still would *wink wink*)

Bookshelves and Nightstands

The newly married couple needs furniture, so this is your opportunity to chip in with some essential pieces. Talk to the couple or their family to find a bookshelf that works with their interior design, or wait until after the wedding when they feel more relaxed and ready to focus on setting up their home. For bookworms who have hundreds of books, a bookshelf can come in extremely handy to properly put books away, while keeping them safe and on display. Alternatively, providing nightstands that can hold a lamp and a book can also be a helpful, pragmatic gift for the couple. Just don’t go crazy when buying furniture for their book obsession – there is such a thing as going too far, like in these crazy book furniture designs.

Comfy Bed Linen for Reading

We bookworms don’t just read sitting down – we also read from bed. And there’s no more amazing feeling than getting into bed under soft, Egyptian cotton bed linens, and a warm blanket, and opening our book to dive into our next adventure.  If you want to get a book lover giddy with excitement for nighttime to arrive, a luxury set of bed linen or blankets is a wonderful wedding present. If you would like to gift them an even more unique present, make it a personalized gift by adding the couples’ names, initials, or even a quote on reading. What could be more perfect?

Here are a few fun quote ideas that can be embroidered on blankets, for example:

  • “We read in bed because reading is halfway between life and dreaming.” – Anna Quindlen
  • “Reading – it’s the third best thing to do in bed.” – Jarod Kintz
  • “Knowing you have something good to read in bed is among the most pleasurable of sensations.”- Vladimir Nabokov

Book of the Month Subscription

This is the gift that keeps on giving. Buy a one or two-year book subscription for the bride & groom so they can get a wonderful selection of new books headed their way every month. Rather than be a one-time gift, every month the couple would receive books based on their favorite genres and interests. The librarians working behind the scenes learn about the couple’s book types and continue to improve the matches with time. It’s an exciting surprise every month!

Gift Books, Of Course!

Buzzfeed came up with a great list of books that would make great wedding gifts. It’s all about knowing the couple, their hobbies, interests, and what books could be of interest or use to them. You can gift them helpful and practical cooking books, travel books for their next travel adventure, or a collection of amazing fantasy books that you know they will enjoy together. A classic book, first print edition, or an autographed book by their favorite author could be an unforgettable gift but will require some extra effort and attention on your end.
